Think positive.
Smile more.
Always look on the bright side of things.
These are the positive things that are said over and over again.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with them, but if you look at it closely, we favor positivity too much that it throws us off-balance.
Being positive is indeed a powerful tool to help you get through life, but it can turn toxic if it becomes too much.
When you always force yourself to see the positive side of things, it can get draining.
And when you’re overly optimistic, you’ll likely ignore your thoughts and emotions that are happening at a deeper level.
Negativity, in your life, is part of it. It happens.
Also, a bit of negative thinking that is used right can also be powerful for introspection and a motivator for change.
This is because life will always throw curveballs at us, and even though positivity is a good mindset, embracing the negative moments in our lives will keep us real.
It’s all about not resisting the negativity but flowing with it.
The Acceptance Of It All
Negative events that happen in our lives could make us dwell on them and limit ourselves within its walls.
However, looking closely at the negative emotions that surrounded the issue is helpful to catapult you forward.
Accepting the negative emotions and giving yourself space to feel them are huge game-changers.
By doing so, you will see what really is going on. Let yourself vent to people you trust.
And you know what could help?
If we are encouraged to keep gratitude journals, why not have a grievance journal, too, where you can put all your worries down on paper?
When you do these things, you’ll be able to see the bigger picture, and you will realize that, after all, it’s not so bad.
From there, you will start with problem-solving to get over the negativity.
You will work on yourself and the other parts of your life to avoid the negative experience again.
Then There’s The Moving On…
Negative things can set you on the path to a happier place.
When you allow yourself to focus on the negatives, you wouldn’t have moved forward.
Have you ever thought about that?
This may sound wrong, but in life, you need to harness the power of negative thinking in your life as well.
Acknowledge that you’re unhappy and give yourself enough space for reflection.
By doing so, you will be able to work out a solution; in that case, your negative emotions turn into motivators that will drive you to change.
These periods of negativity in our lives are actually how you can improve yourself—it will help you better understand your strengths when you’re faced with challenges.
Stay Authentic, Stay You
Here’s the truth: Nobody can stay positive all the time.
That doesn’t work for us, especially since we are multidimensional.
When you’re only emitting positivity, you’re putting too much pressure on yourself to be anything other than an authentic human being.
The negative feelings only get pushed down and sent to denial.
Allow yourself to go with the flow, despite the negativity.
Don’t resist it.
You’re bound to discover a lot of things about yourself and where you’re currently at in your journey right now that can help you make the right decisions.
Don’t let negativity hold you down, let it lift you up instead.
Are you ready to flow with negativity?
