The most wonderful time of the year is here!
During this holiday season, be mindful of the mixed emotions that may come.
We might feel happy, sad, excited, hopeful, and so much more.
It just gives us mixed emotions, and sometimes we can’t help but feel overwhelmed.
Don’t worry, though. This is a normal feeling, and you’re not alone.
Even the most grounded person can get caught up in this holiday frenzy.
They can rush to get things done at work or cram to finish buying everything on their gift list.
So, when you find yourself in need of a timeout and to truly feel the essence of this season, then try out these tips to keep yourself grounded this holiday season.
1. Focus on What You Appreciate
Be present and focus on what makes you happy.
You love the wine you’re drinking? Savor its taste and sip slowly.
Enjoy conversation with the people you’re with. Confess your true feelings and thoughts to people closest to you, and to yourself.
Do not attend business or family events only because you feel obligated to do so.
In any case, regardless of where you are, what you’re doing, or who you’re with, make a pledge to enjoy what’s going on, the people around you, and the numerous blessings of this season.
Here’s a quick exercise you can try to help yourself focus on the present.
- Close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply.
- Think about what you are grateful for.
- With your right hand, lightly tap your forehead three times.
- Then tap your chest three times as well.
This will help you stay in the moment and truly connect with what you are thankful for.
2. Create Boundaries
There are more demands on us during the Christmas season, and we must plan how we will spend our time, money, and energy to get the most out of this lovely season.
Boundaries are the imaginary lines that separate acceptable and unacceptable behavior.
Limiting our interactions with others on social and financial levels, as well as on a vibrational one is a kind of boundary that helps you stay true to yourself.
Another one is simply stepping back when we begin to feel that our energy is being drained.
Boundaries are important in order to do things that are within our limits.
Before going to a celebration, take time to think about your boundaries. Ask yourself the right questions:
- What is important to me?
- What are my needs?
- What should I be careful about?
3. Add in Extra Meditation Time
To constantly keep yourself grounded and your energy balanced, you can add in some extra meditation time.
If you already have a habit of meditating in the morning, then try meditating at night too, before bed.
This will help you reflect on what has happened during the day and will give you a good night’s sleep.
Here are tips to make your meditation time a little extra.
- Light some scented candles.
- Dim the lights.
- Play calming music in the background.
- Begin your meditation by thinking about what you are grateful for
- Tune into that energy.
Have a happy holiday season, and don’t forget to check on yourself!
May abundance surround you, and may the light of the Universe be with you during this holiday season.
