If the cosmic energy of December could be summed up in just three words,
they would be- introspection, growth, and mindfulness.
Are you someone who likes to plan ahead, check off goals, and have a good idea about what’s in store?
If you said yes to that, I’m here for it!
I’m a list maker.
Reply to me and tell me how you like to plan!
In fact, one of the reasons that I love astrology so much is that knowing what the cosmic vibe
is going to be ahead of time can seriously help you to plan accordingly.
It’s so helpful to have a feel for what sort of energy is on the horizon,
that way you can adapt, change, and gain important insight for your own mind-body-spirit alignment.
So read on if you want to learn how to align with all this cosmic movement
and get yourself on the right track for the month ahead.
Mercury and Mars in Retrograde
As December is the final month of 2024, it’s naturally a time of reflection and introspection,
while also being a busy season for holidays, family, and distractions.
This year we have the planets Mercury and Mars in retrograde together which can cause the normally exciting,
upbeat pace of the holidays to feel extra exhausting.
That’s because those two planets in retrograde together can create low energy,
overall sluggishness, lack of motivation, and a feeling of wading against the current.
Ultimately this is all part of a natural process bringing you back into harmony,
but it can make you feel a little low on zest for life!
So what can you do to beat those low-energy vibes?
Use it to your advantage by turning your attention inward,
reassessing your strategies for success and reflecting on future goals rather than taking bold action right away.
The energy overall will support any inner work and introspection you do at this time,
so you should find it easy to focus on your plans.
On the other hand, if you’re trying to push projects forward, initiate new things or take impulsive decisions,
you might find that the energy doesn’t feel right.
It could feel like you’re just trying to run uphill, best to turn your attention inwards instead.
Practice: Meditation, mindfulness, grounding in the morning, walking in nature, and doing breathing exercises.
All these can help you to remain in the moment and open to hearing your inner guidance.
Neptune Turns Direct
The planet of Neptune station direct on December 7th bringing new insights,
clarity of thinking and a deeper connection with the spiritual realms.
When Neptune is in retrograde it can help to open our third eye,
allowing us greater access to portals of self-awareness and spiritual consciousness.
As Neptune stations direct on this day,
we may be looking back at the past and viewing where issues we have been dealing with
for the last six months are resolving, settling, or bringing us new understanding, truth, and insights.
It’s a great moment to tap into our most authentic selves and trust what we hear from our soul.
Practice: Being honest with yourself about what needs your attention in your life.
What clarity has come through for you lately about challenging situations in your life?
Be still, find time to assimilate anything you have been working through over the last few months.
Journaling or engaging in conversations to gain insights can be beneficial.
Let go of distractions and focus on clarity of thought.
Moon Energy
This December is special, we begin and end the month with a New Moon.
When there are two New Moons in one month, it’s called a Black Moon.
They act like bookends, with a Full Moon in Gemini on the 15th December.
The Gemini Full Moon is all about completion and endings,
getting rid of what you don’t want to bring with you into 2025.
The New Moon in Capricorn is perfectly timed at the end of the month
and represents the best time to set intentions and move into the new year with your greatest ambitions and goals set!
Practice: Write down your intentions, honor each moon phase accordingly,
create your own rituals and focus on growth-oriented goals and intentions.
The Winter Solstice
Of course December also brings the Solstice, such a potent day to celebrate the light of our sun.
It’s a great reminder that the dark is always followed by the light,
no matter where you live in the world.
Whether this the darkest or the lightest day for you,
nature’s flow and rhythm’s are what we can rely on.
Wrapping Up
As the month goes on we will discuss these important celestial movements as they come up,
with more detail and ideas for how to honor each cycle and change.
The more you integrate practices such as meditation, intention-setting rituals and other spiritual tools,
the more you will support your personal growth and evolution in harmony with these cosmic energies.
