The global pandemic has made almost everyone around the world anxious. As the virus š¦ spreads with no cure, what was once normal was now put on hold. For how longāthat we donāt know. Now, the only thing that we can do is to stay inside our homes š”, keep ourselves healthy, and create a routine that will become our new normal.
With all of these things happening, how are you coping?
Day by day, you wake up on the same bed āļø, you walk around the same place, and you see the same faces. Thereās barely anything to do.
I know youāre probably tired. The kind of tired that is sad that is filled with anxiety.
The sleepless nights that you go through. The hollow pit in your stomach when you wake up in the morning with nothing but horrible news.
The world is at a standstill.
How are you?
Just like most things in the world, this too shall pass.
While weāre here, I encourage you to meditate. š§ Whether you have tried it or not, I canāt think of a more perfect time but now for meditation practice.
You are already probably aware of how it takes a lot of patience, practice, and time, to achieve a meditative state.
But trust me, once you get there, it would be magnificent.
One of the most important habits that Iāve formed in the past years was my habit of meditation. It has helped me through a lot of thingsāIāve become more focused, peaceful, and less anxious about discomfort. It made me more appreciative and attentive to all the things that life has to offer.
My life has become simpler but in the grandest way possible. Iām far from perfect, but meditation has helped me come a long way.
So, go onā¦ start your meditation habit now. Here, Iāll share with you some tips that helped me over the years:
Give It Two Minutes
On your first meditation practice, I donāt want you to stay seated longer than two minutes. I just want you to meditate in just two minutes. ā³
If you get distracted in the middle of your practice, thatās okay. Just give it two minutes.
Do this for at least a week. If it goes well within a week, then increase a minute in the next week. But for now, start with two minutes for seven days.
Do It First Thing in the Morning
Itās easy to say that youāll commit to meditation every dayā¦ until you forget all about it. So, instead of checking your phone in the morning, meditate.
Set yourself up for this. When your eyes open in the morning, take two minutes to meditate, whether youāre still lying down on your bed or seatedāwhateverās comfortable.
Just Do It
One of the things that hold us back from doing a task is when we continuously ask ourselves āhow?ā We often question HOW when the task is unfamiliar to us.
When it comes to meditation, stop asking HOW. Just do it.
Donāt think about how youāll sit, where youāll sit, etc. Sit where youāre comfortable in. You can worry about the other things when you fall into a routine of meditation.
Donāt Think Too Much About Clearing the Mind
I know that you want to clear your mind when you meditate. Hereās the truth, thoughā itās quite impossible to achieve it the first time. You can clear your mind, yes, for a couple of seconds.
But itās okay when you canāt hold it for two minutes straight. The more you pressure yourself in the middle of your practice, the more you wonāt achieve it.
Therefore, take it easy. Clearing the mind is not the āgoalā of meditation. Just focus your attention and practice some more when your mind wanders.
Always Smile When Youāre Done
ā¦ and even when youāre in an awful mood. After your meditation practice, SMILE. š Take that moment to be grateful that you had time to yourself and you stuck with your commitment.
As we wait for the new world, meditate.
You can do it. šŖš»
